Navigating Las Vegas' Liquor Dens

Downtown Liquor Haunts – The Fiery Grandpa’s Guide

Las Vegas: a city that never shuts up and never seems to run out of flashy lights. Beyond the chaos of the Strip, there's a supposed "liquor awakening" happening in downtown Las Vegas. Craft cocktails, whiskey wonderlands, and exclusive sips – all in a city that's supposed to be about excess. Let's dive into some liquor bars and try to avoid all the goddamn hipsters, tech bros, and content creators.

Commonwealth: Craft Cocktails with a View

First on the list is Commonwealth, planted in the heart of Fremont East. Supposedly a beacon of sophistication, it's got a rooftop where you can enjoy "craft cocktails" while soaking in the view of downtown. Just what you need, more overpriced mixes in an attempt to look classy.

The Griffin: Dive Bar Charm with Quality Liquors

For those of us who prefer a more down-to-earth experience, there's The Griffin on Fremont Street. They claim it's a dive with charm, complete with leather couches and live music. The liquors are of decent quality. Why is it so loud in here?

Oak & Ivy: Whiskey Wonderland at Container Park

“Let’s make a bar inside a fucking shipping container!” I wish I was there for that conversation. I’m sure I would have shat all over the idea, but after stopping in for some late-morning glasses of bourbon rocks, I would be forced to admit I would have been wrong. A "whiskey wonderland" with a solid selection. Just beware, you might have to navigate through some local MILFs who have their kids on leashes, but it's worth the trouble.

Velveteen Rabbit: Creative Cocktails in the Arts District

Venturing into the Arts District, you'll find Velveteen Rabbit – a haven for creative cocktails. Get ready for an "imaginative drink menu" and an atmosphere that's probably more eccentric than you'd prefer.

Atomic Liquors: History and Classic Spirits

Atomic Liquors, one of the oldest bars in Las Vegas, tons of history and classic cocktails. I like to sit outside at the bar/railing and slowly get hammered while watching people make their way down Fremont.

What Are You Waiting For?

I know we went to more places, but it’s difficult to recall at the moment. In the heart of downtown Las Vegas, a collection of bars awaits, each offering a unique and supposedly memorable experience. Share your experiences, if you dare, and navigate through the sea of social influencers, bridal parties of chubby girls screaming “wooooo!” and middle-aged guys who used to wear schmedium Tapout t-shirts in search of a decent drink. Here's to hoping Sin City has more to offer than just overpriced pretension. Cheers, goddamnit!
